Christians in Kisii County have joined hands to rehabilitate street children by enrolling them in schools and equipping them with life skills. This initiative is spearheaded by Kisii Gospel Embassy Church founder, Pastor Peter Morwabe, who said the faithful are committed to playing a parental role for children often perceived as wayward.

Speaking in Kisii town on Christmas Day, Pastor Morwabe and his team shared meals with street children while encouraging them to embrace education as a path to a new life.

“It is not their choice to be in the streets, but many have been ruined by broken homes and life experiences that plunge them into confusion,” he said.

The pastor explained that the church has conducted the exercise annually, and through the effort, more than six teenagers have agreed to return to school. One of them has already enrolled for a technical course at Riragia Technical and Vocational Education Institute.

Pastor Morwabe expressed gratitude to the teenagers who attended the gathering, noting that their willingness to be rehabilitated was a sign of hope. He said the church would continue supporting them to ensure they begin afresh and build meaningful lives.

He further revealed that consultations have been held with the Kisii County government on the possibility of allocating funds to support the rehabilitation of street children and vulnerable groups, including commercial sex workers.

Pastor Morwabe urged Christians to take the lead in helping society heal both spiritually and psychologically. He emphasized that compassion and responsibility are essential in restoring dignity and offering opportunities to those marginalized by circumstances.
