The MP who spoke in Kisii town said the campus will will host students taking Agriculture and Agri-business courses saying that these courses are relevant to the residents whose main economy depends on agricultural produce.

He asked students from the region to embrace science to enable them join the campus near their homes and reduce the cost of living for them as pursue their studies.

Osoro also blamed some unnamed politicians for dragging politics into development matters and asked them to desist from such old fashioned way of doing politics that retard progress.

Residents from the region led by Job Ochari lauded the government for accepting to revive the project which was stopped by former CS for education Fred Matiangi stating stating that mushrooming of University branches was deluding the Universities’education standards.

“We jointly constructed classrooms and offices to start the campus but our dreams were thwarted ubtill now when we have seen hope again.”He said

Ochari expressed optimism of the start of the campus because it will create employment opportunities to residents and market for their farm produces like bananas, sugarcane, pineapples and groundnuts.

He asked residents around Nyakeyo, Mochengo, Nyansbe and Etago to construct modern rental houses that will help them get money from students and staff of the campus who will rent them.
