The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to announce a major round of Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) replacement vacancies anytime from now, bringing hope to thousands of unemployed teachers across the country.

According to the advertisement, TSC is set to unveil a total of 9,159 replacement positions. Of these, 7,065 slots will go to primary school teachers, filling vacancies left through natural attrition and transfers.

Another 12 vacancies will be allocated to Junior School, addressing critical staffing gaps as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) continues to take shape. Additionally, 2,082 positions will be reserved for Senior Secondary, a move expected to strengthen the delivery of the senior school pathway under CBC reforms.

Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the development, noting that the replacements will help stabilise learning in areas that have experienced significant teacher shortages.

The Commission is currently finalising internal procedures and is anticipated to publish the official advertisement shortly, outlining the application guidelines and timelines for interested candidates.

More details will be shared once TSC makes the announcement public.
