A fundraising event to assist with the burial expenses of the late Munyuki Secondary School Principal, Simon Isaiho Shanje, will be held this Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the school grounds in Kakamega county.

The respected education leader tragically lost his life under distressing circumstances, sending shockwaves across the school community and the larger Kakamega County.

Shanje went missing two weeks ago following a road accident along the Eldoret-Malaba road he used while heading to collect KCSE examination materials.

According to family and colleagues, he left home early in the morning for official duty but never arrived at his destination. His disappearance triggered a week-long search by police, residents, and fellow teachers.

After days of intense searching, his body was discovered in the Kipkaren River, bringing a painful end to the hopes of finding him alive.

The discovery raised deep concerns and sorrow among education stakeholders and residents who knew him as a hardworking, honest, and deeply committed professional.

Saturday’s fundraiser aims to mobilize resources to give the late principal a dignified send-off and to support his grieving family.

The organizing committee said the event is crucial due to the sudden and tragic nature of his death, which has left the family emotionally and financially strained.
