Kituro High School in Baringo Central has officially received students from the now-relocated Talai Secondary School, following a strategic takeover of Talai’s premises by Moi Teachers College, Seretunin.

The move comes as part of broader preparations for the establishment of Kabarnet University.

The transition will see this year’s Form Four candidates from Talai sit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations at Kituro High.

Other students have been distributed among neighboring institutions, including Pemwai Girls, Tabagon Girls, Tenges Boys, and Oinabmoi Boys.

According to education officials, the decision was made in consultation with local stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to learners’ academic progress.

“This relocation marks a significant step in expanding education infrastructure in Baringo,” said Mary Rono, an education official in the county. “We’ve worked closely with the schools to ensure a smooth integration process and to support all affected students.”

Parents and community leaders have lauded the move, expressing optimism about the region’s development prospects.

“We are excited about the prospects Kabarnet University brings,” said Mary Chebet, a parent and local leader. “At the same time, we appreciate how the Ministry has handled the transition for our children.”

As the dates for national exams draw nearer, officials have urged schools and candidates to finalize preparations early and ensure strict adherence to the academic calendar.

“The goal is to maintain stability and uphold the quality of education, even as we embark on ambitious infrastructural development,” added  Rono.
