Ngong Bus Park in Kajiado North has become a growing concern for parents and law enforcement as drug peddlers increasingly target school-going children, according to local police.
Area Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Jacob Ndunda sounded the alarm during the International Day of Peace celebrations, highlighting the worrying trend of minors being lured into substance abuse by drug dealers operating openly at the busy transport hub.
“The bus park has turned into a hotspot for illegal drug activities, with some vendors specifically targeting school children,” said OCS Ndunda.
He noted that the presence of drug dealers in the area poses a serious risk to the health, safety, and future of young learners.
In addition to drug-related concerns, the OCS also reported incidents where students have fallen victim to theft by rogue matatu touts. In one such case, a school child was robbed of their fare and school bag.

“We have received disturbing reports of students being harassed, robbed, and introduced to drugs. This behavior is unacceptable and deeply worrying,” he added.
In response, local authorities have pledged to enhance security at the bus park, with increased surveillance and patrols aimed at protecting school children and curbing the growing drug menace.
The police are also urging parents, teachers, and community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving minors.
Efforts are underway to coordinate with school administrations and youth organizations to raise awareness and prevent further exploitation of children at transport hubs like Ngong Bus Park.
