Education Cabinet Secretary, (CS) Julius Ogamba has appointed Prof. Kennedy Otieno Awuor to be a board member of the National Biosafety Authority, NBA for a period of three years.
The appointment is as per section 6(1)(f) of the Biosafety Act and is effective 15th August 2025.
The section provides that the Board consist of two experts in the biological, environmental and social sciences respectively, appointed by the Cabinet Secretary.
Prof Awuor is an associate professor in the department of mathematics, school of pure and applied sciences.

He holds a PhD and a masters of sciences in applied mathematics from Kenyatta University, He is also a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Education (science) from the same University.
He teaches mathematics to undergraduate and masters students. His area of specialization is applied mathematics. His research interest is in the numerical stimulation of fluid flow in an enclosure.
This comes after the 3 -year term of two directors Dr. Daniel Njoroge and Mohamed Haji Hussein came to an end after serving for one term.
