KUPPET Executive Secretaries have written to the union headquarters demanding a halt to the unauthorized SWA loan deductions being taken from teachers’ payslips.
The officials argue that the deductions come at a time when teachers are grappling with economic hardships, and they insist the matter be addressed urgently.
In letters signed by Alfred Kamuto (West Pokot), Robert Miano (Laikipia), Justus Kimeu (Makueni), and Orwa Jasolo (Migori), the leaders said teachers were shocked to discover unexplained deductions without their consent.

Miano demanded an explanation from the union’s national office, saying teachers deserve to know who authorized the deductions and why.
Kimeu termed the move unfair and troubling, noting that even Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers, many of whom are yet to be confirmed as full union members, had been affected.
Jasolo added that members deserve clarity on the purpose of the SWA loan deductions and whether they amount to double deductions as speculated.
