The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has approved the registration of Bachelor of Education graduates from Great Lakes University of Kisumu, paving the way for them to be employed as teachers.
In a later dated 13th August to the university, the Commission indicated that it had reviewed the programme structure and is satisfied that the curriculum accredited by the Commission for University Education meets the required academic and professional standards necessary for effective teaching.
“The commission supports the proposal to allow teacher trainees who complete their training within three calendar years including the mandatory three months of teaching practice to be considered eligible for registration as teachers,” the TSC stated.

In the meantime, the university through the Registrar Academic Affairs Kevin Oria, has requested all Bachelor of Education students of 2022 cohort who have met all the pre-requisite requirements to begin the clearance process in preparation for this year’s graduation scheduled for 21st November 2025.
The Bachelor of Education course is offered in 8 trimesters (2 and 1/2) years plus three months attachment.
GLUK is a private chartered university in Kenya with its main campus in Kibos, Kisumu County. The university serves both local and international students from Rwanda, DRC, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan and Tanzania.
