The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has officially launched the Kantaria Agricultural Technology and Innovation Centre (KATIC) at the University of Nairobi College of Agriculture, a state-of-the-art hub built in honor of the late Rajnikat Kantaria.
The launch is a bold step forward in the journey towards agri-innovation, climate resilience, and sustainable nourishment for every Kenyan household.
KATIC is set to revolutionize agriculture in Kenya as it will serve as a vibrant hub for training, research, and demonstration connecting farmers, youth, and agripreneurs to digital tools, AI-driven solutions, and sustainable techniques that boost yields, conserve water, and build resilience against climate shocks.
In partnership with Elgon Kenya and other stakeholders, the centre will champion innovation through technology, AI, and climate-smart solutions empowering youth, driving food security, and making agriculture a key engine of economic growth.

The KATIC hub that sits on a 50-acre land set aside by the University has demonstration plots, exhibition facilities and social amenities. It also has conference halls, seminar rooms, laboratories and offices.
The Centre will serve as a hub for agricultural innovation, experiential learning, and technology transfer with the ultimate goal of contributing to food and nutrition security, job and wealth creation, poverty alleviation and improved livelihoods, environmental sustainability, and inclusive economic development. The target market is the entire agriculture value chain through cutting edge innovation.
