AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Uasin Gishu, on Saturday night, stormed out of school, and took to the road from Kimumu heading to Eldoret town to agitate their frustration over the school’s unexpected concert turn.

According to the students, the administration shortchanged them. They claim they each paid Ksh 250 for a concert, only for the school to invite Jose Jose — an artist they had not expected. They argue that inviting a Kalenjin artist was an act of tribalism.

According to the event advertisement, the school had planned a talent show scheduled for Friday, July 18, featuring a surprise guest, Bada Dancers, and renowned Big Afrique DJs.

Students were also expected to participate in various activities, including dance, comedy, public speaking, rap, singing, and bodybuilding.

The administration is yet to issue a statement on the matter, as cases of student unrest continue to rise. Statistics show that the second term records the highest number of such incidents.

According to the past occurrences, Term two usually records high number of strikes in schools, education stakeholders attribute this to several factors including, mock examinations, long weeks without breaks leading to student fatigue, and strained school resources as budgets tighten mid-year , the ongoing national protests as well give pressure to students.
