Kisii University student Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as Mr KK Mwenyewe died yesterday, July 14, , while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
His death was confirmed today by fellow content creator Kafengo as fans and the academic community alike receive it in shock.
Before his death, he was a third year student at Kisii University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science. While he was well known for his comedic impersonations, he remained focused on his education and academic progress.

Mr KK rose to national fame in 2022 while still enrolled at the university. His impersonation of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua brought him recognition across Kenya, but in campus, he was also seen as a hardworking and focused student. He balanced his coursework with content creation, attending classes and participating in academic activities while continuing to build his online presence.
Before joining Kisii University, Zakaria attended Handege High School. He also had a period of study at Zetech University College. His academic journey showed consistency and a clear focus on developing his skills in technology and communication.
Zakaria’s death has left a deep gap not only in Kenya’s entertainment industry but also in the university community. He will be remembered as a young man who pursued his goals with determination, combining the demands of student life with the creativity that made him a household name.
