Learners urged to use music festivals to develop and nurture their talents

Rift Valley Regional Director of Education Rosemary Mwambui have urged all learners participating in 97th Edition of Kenya Music Festival Rift Valley Region to use the opportunity to develop and nurture their talent .

Speaking during the event, Mwambui said music festivals is an avenue where learners can learners various career in line with Curriculum Based Education, (CBE) where learners learns practical.

“Music Festival enable our learners to develop their talents in areas of Music and performing arts, music is an industry and sources of livelihood for many people ;carriers opportunities that learners can develop from music include production, editing, directing, actual performance and production of music equipment,” she said.

She added that the Rift Valley Music Festival is culmination of various genres which have been undertaken from the school level up to the county across vats Region.

“The Ministry of Education appreciate the efforts, sacrifices, hard work and commitments of trainers, participants and officials in assembling such winning teams we welcome all counties  to this festival which runs from 9th to 14th July 2025”,said Mwambui.

Mwambui highlight that the theme of this year is :’Enhancing the creative Economy through artistic expression for sustainable development ‘

“This year’s festival have a rich programme activities which have been line up fro performance in Music and Dance, elocution and other cadres, let us enjoy, learn, appreciate our cultural diversity on display,” said the Director

She said that the CBE curriculum has distinctive pathways for learners with talents in all schools such as Arts and Sports, Science, Social Sciences and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics(STEM).

She also affirmed that in all activities discipline is critical component of any form of success.

“The Ministry of Education expects all participating teams to exhibits a high level of discipline during this festival both within the venue and where learners are hosted,” said Mwambui.

Speaking at the same event ,Rift Valley Music Festival Regional Chairman Simon Ole Masake thanked all schools, teachers, parents for the dedication and sacrifices they have shown in preparing young performances.

“Rift Valley Music Festival Committee salute our adjudicators and organisers for their tireless work, we also applaud every participants in all schools in all our counties of Rift Valley Region for sharing their talented gift with us,” said Ole Masake

He remind all participants that where they sing, dance, recite or play; the presence is already a victory as he encourage them to shine boldly, perform proudly.

“This festival it is not merely  a competition: it is a celebration of who we are. Music reminds us of our roots, amplifies our diversity, and carries our hope for the future, it builds discipline, confidence, and character-and today it bring the Rift Valley Region as one voice,” said Ole Masake

He said that the event is held in Nakuru City in Afraha High School, Langalanga High School and Nakuru High School.

“This festival will echoes melodies, harmonies, and rhythms that showcase the spirit, talent and passion of our children-from the vibrant voices of preschoolers to the polished performance of our senior high school students, it is here that music will speak the language of unity ,culture, creativity and excellence.
