Several Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres in Matungulu Sub-county, Machakos county have received over 130 plastic chairs and tables donation from the area MCA.
Matungulu West MCA Raphael Nzau Lucky said over 130 plastic chairs and tables have been distributed to various ECDE centres, replacing the old wooden desks that were unsuitable for the young children.
“Most of the desks in use were wooden and too high for the little ones, forcing them to crouch or lean forward awkwardly causing many to hate school. With these new plastic tables and chairs, learning will be more comfortable and even exciting for the children,” said Lucky.
Lucky also observed that Early childhood education is very crucial thus the need for proper care to the young ones.

He noted that the state of infrastructure in some ECDE centres was dire, but assured residents that the county government is committed to improving learning environments across the board.
Speaking during the handover, Lucky also donated ten bags of cement to Komahill Kiamba Primary School, which will be used to cement dusty ECDE classrooms.
“We are not just stopping at furniture; we are working to ensure all ECDE centres have decent classrooms and learning spaces,” he added.
The ECDE centres that benefitted from the recent distribution include Kalandini Primary School, Tala SA Primary School, Nguluni Township Primary School, Komahill Primary School, AIC Nguluni Primary School,among other schools.
