Kiserian Primary celebrates as they receive school bus donated by President Ruto

Pomp and color-marked celebrations at Kiserian Primary in Kajiado North Constituency as teachers, management and parents joined students in celebrating receiving a school bus donated by President William Ruto.

The bus which is worth Ksh 11 million was handed over to the school by State House Comptroller Dr Katoo ole Metito.

Katoo, speaking during the handover event in the school said the head of state is committed in supporting matters of education.

“I had a meeting with our his excellence the president and requested for the donations , he has so far given me four  buses which I have donated to  our schools and I will talk to him for one more for Kajiado West,” he said.

The four buses were donated to Iltilal Secondary school in (Kajiado South), Enkorika Secondary (Kajiado Central) Enkasiti Primary School (Kajiado East) and Kiserian Primary School (Kajiado North.)

The school administration commended the president for the donation.

Kajiado North Sub-County Education Officer Jane Kiremi said the bus will be an important asset to schools in the region

“We have been having difficulties in ferrying students to sports events outside the region due to high population of students in our schools, the bus will address the transport issue we have been facing we also request for more,” she said.

Kajiado North Sub County is among regions with high population of students, the sub county has 16 public schools with a total population of 13,696 students, and private schools accommodate 26,932.

The sub county education officer urged government to employ additional teachers to address staff shortages in the region.

The schools are understaffed with some accommodating more than 100 students per class with few laboratories.

She however commended government for the school feeding program which has seen students improve performance.
