Teachers ask President Ruto to intervene, punish killers of teacher Ojwang

Kenya Union of Primary and Secondary Education Teachers ( KUPPET) have vowed not to rest until they are assured of justice for the slain teacher cum blogger Albert Ochieng.

Led by Kisii Branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha during the candle lighting at the Capital roundabout in Kisii town, the teachers accused the police force of impunity. They asked President William Ruto to intervene with immediate effect to ensure that the suspects killers face he law.

“Affecting one teacher, especially by killing, you are killing all teachers,” said Abincha.

He expressed concern about the country’s insecurity. He asked the police, who are responsible for the people’s security, to take their professional and patriotic duties seriously to regain the public’s waning confidence in them.

The secretary said that his Union will stand with the family of the slain youthful teacher, who was the only support of elderly parents, and leaves behind a young widow with a small child.

He appealed to all teachers to remain royal to the government and their profession but stand up in solidarity to condemn any evils that that may crip in to infringe heir social and economic life.

The teachers’ views were supported by former Bogeka Ward MCA Charles Nyagoto, who lauded the government for arresting the first suspect of the teacher’s killer and asked the police to carry out a thorough investigation to bring other suspects to book.

The slain teacher, Albert Ochieng, was picked up from his Homa Bay early this month by the police, but was reported dead the following day after the arrest.
