Makueni Woman Rep calls for fast tracking of GBV cases

Makueni County Women Representative Rose Museo has called for fast tracking of gender based violence cases in courts.

Speaking at Wote Technical Training Institute during gender- based violence forum with different stakeholders, Museo noted that some cases are taking forever to be completed thus delay of justice.

“Let the courts complete the case in a justified manner. If the suspect is guilty let them face the law, if not release them,” Museo said

She noted that disabled children are facing it rough terming it as inhumane. She added that it’s a pity that you get disabled women impregnated by being raped.

“What’s wrong with some men, you go to someone who cannot defend themselves. Let the law take its cause and punish you severely,” Museo added.

She also noted that those resulting to kangaroo courts should face the law calling upon any affected person to report such cases fast to the nearest police station.

The county MP revealed that GBV is still high despite the efforts put to end or alleviate it. She called for all leaders to be in the forefront to sensitize the public and the measures to take when faced by any form of it.

She reminded parents to take extra care of their children as well as giving them all the attention needed since many are leaving the responsibility to teachers.

“Let me be clear, even some the relatives you are sending your children to during holidays turn out to be preys. Leave your child to trusted person. Listen to them, guide, counsel and protect them,” Museo said.
