A grandparent surprised teachers at Adiedo Mixed Secondary School in Homabay County after taking six chickens to reduce her grandchildren’s inflated schools fees.
Consolata Aoko Oduya, from Karachuonyo, admitted that she had been pleading with school administration and hasn’t fulfilled her promises to pay school fees since form one and had accrued to Ksh 245,000.
Even though she couldn’t clear the whole lump sum, Aoko presented her six chickens saying each was valued at Ksh1,000, an effort to settle outstanding fees accumulated over years.
“This is all I have please mwalimu, allow my grandkids to be in school,” she pleaded

One of her grandchildren, currently in Form Three, has a balance of Ksh105,000, while the other in Form Four owes Ksh140,000.
Despite her consistent promises to pay, economic hardship has made it nearly impossible to meet these obligations.
Her generous and honest efforts has attracted the attention of well-wishers who are willing to help her with the burden of clearing the school fees and make the dreams those students worthwhile.
