Man, 68, found defiling deaf girl in sugar plantation, detained by police in Kisii

The defiled minor is receiving treatment at Keumbu Health Centre.

Kisii County Commissioner Joseph Mwangi has issued a stern warning to adults who defile children, saying that their days are numbered.

Mwangi said that child defilement and negligence are a violation of their rights; anybody who is proven culpable will face the cruel hand of the law in court.

The Commissioner was reacting to a reported case of defilement at Marwanga village in Nyaribari Chache Constituency.

According to residents, a man of 68 years was caught red-handed defiling a girl of 13 years in a sugarcane farm.

Acting on tips from other children, the villagers stormed the farm and found the man hiding with the victim, who is deaf and dumb.

They alerted the police in Kegati and put him in custody as they carried out investigations.

The defiled minor was taken to Keumbu Health Centre, where she is undergoing treatment.

The police identified the suspect as Francis Nyameino, 68, from Marwanga village.

“Previous police records show that the suspect is a notorious lawbreaker. Now he is in our hands and will help us arrest others, ” said one of the police officers.

He said that the suspect will be arraigned in the court of law after a complete police investigation.
