Lugari Member of parliament, MP Nabii Nabwera has threatened to sponsor a motion in parliament to disband the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), over the alleged irregularities witnessed in the recent teachers’ promotion list released last week.
Speaking at Kulumbeni, in his constituency during the launch of construction of road, Nabwera observed the just concluded promotion was carried out through nepotism and tribalism without factoring in the regions equality, adding that the is null and void and must be repeated a fresh.
“There is a problem which has emerged, us as the education committee in the national assembly, we gave TSC fund for the teachers promotion, to promote and motivate them, however it is a shame that the TSC has done promotion through discrimination, favor and tribalism, I want to curse that,” he said.
The legislature added that the Education Committee led by Julius Melly with him as the member has called the TSC to explain on how they are going to correct the mistake, adding that there is no more money being added to TSC if they will fail to correct the mistake they made during the teachers promotion.

“We cannot promote people on the basis of equality, we promote people on the basis of equity,” Nabwera said.
The MP further decried the formula the TSC used to promote teachers in Kakamega, saying that the county has more schools than those equated with like Lamu, which he said has fewer schools.
“They claim that we should divide the equation of giving two grades each; County like lamu, they give the same to Kakamega. Kakamega has more than 1000 schools with teachers over 100,000, Lamu does not reach even 10, 000. How can you compare them?” he wondered.
The legislature further called upon the chairman of the commission Dr Jamleck Muturi to rise to the occasion, or else he tables an impeachment motion before parliament for the Commission, adding on presenting the motion, he is certain that all teachers and Kenyans will support him.
He also added that there are teachers with over 50 years, who have never been promoted and yet they are producing results.
“There teachers with 58 years,59 years, they are retiring in one or two years, they have never been promote and yet they are producing results, whom did they wrong?’ Nabwera angrily stated.
He further called upon the TSC chair and other commissioners to rise to the occasion or else vacate the office.
