Parents have been asked to be very close to their children during this April Holiday to prevent them from entering danger.
Area Chief Isaiah Bunda, who addressed residents at Nyamoronga village, asked consoled parents whose 12-year-old child drowned in a swamp that was formed after excavating murram for road construction.
According to his father, Samuel Marita, his child, a grade 5 pupil at Kiabusura Primary School, followed his colleagues on a swimming adventure near their home when misfortune befell him.

“They were swimming with his colleagues when the swamp’s water depth overcame and swallowed him,” he said.
Efforts by local divers to rescue the drowning lad alive did not succeed as they retrieved the dead body.
The police took the body to St Joseph’s Tabaka Mission Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination and preparations for burial.
The chief blamed the sudden death on a Chinese construction firm contracted to construct roads in the area.
He appealed to Kisii County Governor Simba Arati to function the firm or instruct them to refill the excavated holes after extracting murram to avoid more deaths.
