Boda Boda operators across Bungoma County have received specialised training on rescue and treatment during emergencies such as road accidents, courtesy of a partnership between Bungoma Town KMTC Campus and the Kanduyi Constituency NG-CDF office.
Addressing the press, Bungoma Town KMTC Chief Principal Victoria Koi noted that the exercise brought on board 100 Boda Boda operators who were trained in scene management, safety, and basic first aid skills, particularly for injuries and accidents.
Expert facilitators from the medical college conducted training sessions at the Bungoma Red Cross Branch, Zion, and St John’s Hopkins Hospitals to ensure that participants received hands-on experience and retained the critical skills needed to respond effectively in emergencies.

According to Koi, the training will enhance the operators’ knowledge, enabling them to rescue themselves or their colleagues, especially in road accidents, ultimately saving lives.
On his part, John Makali, MP for Kanduyi Constituency, reiterated his commitment to ensuring that operators continue to receive periodic training from KMTC in conjunction with other health training professionals.
Makali hinted that through the NG-CDF kitty, he plans to sponsor at least three boda boda operators to pursue a medical course at the institution.
One of the trainees, Christine Sifuna, Bungoma County Boda Boda Association Welfare Treasurer, thanked all partners for ensuring safety of riders on the roads through the training.
