Kisii County has nominated Kenyatta University (KU) Senior Lecturer Dr. Timothy Arege as the new County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Culture and Sports.
Dr. Arege, a renowned Kiswahili and Literature don, is also a prolific author with a number of books and plays under his belt, including Mstahiki Meya and Bembea ya Maisha, currently a set book in secondary schools.
Dr. Arege replaces Dr. Alfred Ndemo who resigned recently.
Residents are eager to see how the scholar performs, considering that his literature is riddled with political satire criticizing poor governance.
The don joins the county government at a time when Governor Simba Arati is facing allegations of being in possession of fake academic certificates.
