A family in Rarieda sub-county is seeking justice for their kin, a laboratory assistant at Kisumu Girls High school, whom they say died under suspicious circumstances.

They claim that they suspect foul play as investigations into his death are yet to bear fruits four months since his passing.

According to a police report, the deceased left work on Monday, June 24, 2024 in the company of his colleagues.

He did not report for work for the following three days. On Friday, June 28, his boss Fred Ouma visited his place to check on him without contacting his next of kin.

Upon reaching the house at 12:00pm, Ouma and the deceased’s friend, Hillary Koech decided to break the door because it was locked from inside.

The duo reportedly found him unconscious and decided to administer raw milk orally. He came to and they took him to Kisumu County Referral Hospital at 4:30 pm where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The family questions why he was taken to hospital four and a half hours later despite awareness of his critical condition.

They say that upon arrival at the house the following morning after receiving the news, the floor seemed too clean as if it had been scrubbed earlier.

They further claim that up to date, the school has refused to hand over two mobile phones that belonged to the deceased.

The Chief Principal, Eva Odhiambo, declined to comment on the matter, saying that the issue had been taken up by the Kondele Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office.

At the DCI office, the officer in charge also declined to comment on the matter.
