Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale has called on the government to urgently overhaul the current bursary funding model, which he described as discriminatory and unfair to the underprivileged.

Speaking during the send-off ceremony for the late Veronica Mudola Makwaka in Idakho Central ward, Ikolomani sub-county, he urged President Ruto to redirect bursary funds away from political influences and ensure they are allocated to deserving students.

Khalwale emphasized that the existing system perpetuates economic inequality, preventing many students from accessing essential educational resources.

“Education should be a right, not a privilege,” he stated, urging the Ministry of Education to take decisive steps towards making education free for all.
