Three KUPPET officials in Kakamega have been arrested on allegations of causing a disturbance in a school.
The three were apprehended at dawn by DCI officers from Kakamega East Sub-county and detained at Kakamega Central Police Station.
They were apprehended by DCI officers from Kakamega East Sub-county and initially detained at Shianda Police Station in Mumias East Sub-county before being transferred to the Kakamega Central cells.
The three were reported to have created tension in the school by attempting to force teachers out of the institution. Police also stated that they were threatening teachers who were willing to continue teaching.

Kakamega Deputy DCI Nicholas Waringa confirmed that the three individuals were in custody, adding that the case was being handled by officers in Kakamega East.
However, officials of the union contacted said the arrests and threats are part of a malicious plan by the government to intimidate teachers who are exercising their constitutional right to protest and urged them not to be deceived by these tactics.
