Mixed results as KSSSA National championship starts in Kisii

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Ball Games kicked off on Sunday, August 4, at Kisii school with high-energy performances from both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, setting the stage for an exhilarating tournament.

On the first day, Highway Secondary School claimed a narrow victory with a crucial goal against St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale, launching their campaign on a positive note while Dr Aggrey High School emerged triumphant in a closely contested match against Machakos High School, edging them out 1-0.

Musingu High school also secured a vital win, defeating Machakos High with a single goal. In a thrilling encounter, Koderobara Secondary School and Kirangari High school ended in a high-energy 2-2 draw.

In girls’ football, Butere Girls High School achieved a hard-fought win with a decisive goal against Kibauni Secondary. Nyakach Girls High School showcased their prowess with a dominant 3-0 victory.

St Joseph’s Girls and Kombani Secondary played to a competitive 1-1 draw, each earning a point. Dagoretti High School clinched a tightly contested 1-0 victory against Alara Girls.

Day two continued the excitement as Highway Secondary faced off against Dr Aggrey High, ending in a draw with both teams displaying strong defensive and offensive skills.

St Joseph’s Boys delivered a dominant performance, scoring six goals and conceding none against Takaba Boys.

Koderobara secondary and Machakos High played to a goalless draw, marked by strong defensive plays. Musingu continued their strong form, narrowly defeating Kirangari 2-1.

In girls’ football, Nyakach Girls maintained their winning streak with a solid 1-0 victory over Butere Girls. Kinale secured their first win of the tournament with a 1-0 result against Kibauni.

St. Joseph’s Girls displayed an impressive performance, winning 4-1 against Alara Girls. Kombani secondary edged out Dagoretti with a narrow 1-0 win, adding three points to their tally.
