Elected leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties have suggested that Masimba High School should carry the name of former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
During a dinner meeting whose chief guest was Solicitor-General Shadrach Mose, the leaders asked the Ministry of Education to consider remembering Machogu for the good work he did when he was the CS.
“Let us learn to appreciate our heroes when they are alive by naming some areas like streets, buildings or institutions to reflect their input,” said Zaheer Jhanda, Nyaribari Chache MP.
Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri welcomed the idea and volunteered to champion it, saying that one can be a leader without necessary having a title.
She appealed to Abagusi Council of Elders to install Machogu as the region’s patron to link the community to the rest of the world because of his rich experience in public service.
The leaders resolved to work as a team and prioritize the development of education projects as the only sure long term vehicle to liberating the region from the country’s socio-economic and political imbalances.
Saying the country is now united after the Gen Z anti Financial Bill protests, they agreed to remain united from the grassroots to enable them gain strong bargaining power for the national cake.
The legislators, Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North), Zaheer Jhandah,
Steve Mogaka (West Mugirango), and Alpa Miruka ( Bomachoge Chache), among others, endorsed the proposed new CS for education Julius Migosi as their new spokesman.
