In a shocking turn of events, Kabarnet High School has been disqualified from the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games and handed a two-year ban for fielding ineligible players.
The decision came after St Joseph’s Kitale and Laiser Hill Schools filed a case against Kabarnet, alleging the inclusion of non-students in their squad.
An investigation seen by Education News confirmed that four first-team players were not students of Kabarnet High School. Among them, two were alumni, one was a Board of Management (BoM) teacher, and one individual’s identity remains completely unknown.
None of the four were able to produce birth certificates or other necessary documents to validate their eligibility.

As a result, the Kabarnet High School team manager has been suspended for four years. The school itself is banned from participating in KSSSA games until the 2027 term two games.
Arnesens High School has immediately replaced Kabarnet Boys in the quarterfinals.
Consequently, Moi High School Kabartonjo has been declared the Baringo County champions, although this declaration came too late to impact the ongoing games. The KSSSA will issue an apology letter to Moi High School Kabartonjo regarding this matter.
