RVIST students riot to protest death of female colleague

A bird's eye view of Rift Valley National Poly. Students rioted yesterday after a female colleague was killed in Kaptembwa.

Students of Rift Valley National Polytechnic yesterday went on the rampage after a student was killed by unknown people, though a prime suspect has been arrested.

To calm the situation, Rongai Sub-county OCPD Wilberforce Sicharani pleaded with the students to be patient as the matter is being investigated.

Sicharani said a man together with other suspects were in their custody and they will get to the bottom of the matter, assuring that the government will ensure their safety while in college.

He promised that no stone will be left unturned to bring all the culprits to book, asking the students to cooperate with the police and provide any information that will assist them in the ongoing investigation.

The Rongai police boss said the security officers will ensure they conduct thorough investigations into the death ensure that justice prevails.

It is alleged that the female student was taken by her boyfriend from Kabasis Trading Centre to Kaptembwa, where she lost her life in mysterious  circumstances.
