Nkaimurunya High School Education Day, which was to be graced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu today, has been cancelled due to security reasons.
The event aimed to celebrate the schools good performance in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). The school is the top performing day school in Kajiado County.
The principal Peter Kamau said they will communicate later dates for the celebrations.
The school is located in Nkaimurunya Ward, Ongata Rongai town, where deadly Finance Bill 2024 protests were witnessed on Thursday, July 27, leading to the death of a 12 -year boy Kennedy Onyango Ouma, who was a student at a Rongai primary school.
The boy’s mother Jacinta Onyango said her son went to borrow a book from his friends never to return.
Several people were also injured including a police officer, with businesses looted including Clean shelf Supermarket.
President William Ruto, during an engagement with the media from State House Nairobi yesterday, said he will give the mother of the boy an explanation.
“I will make sure that I bring this to a situation where like myself who has children, her child can be accounted for,” he said.
He maintained that criminals took advantage of the Finance Bill 2024 protests to destroy property and burn critical government infrastructure, including a section of Parliament.
