Transport along Kiambu Road was temporarily halted after students of the Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) staged demos earlier today to protest an assault of one of their own.

In videos spreading on social media especially on X, the students were said one of them was assaulted by security guards two days ago.

The victim was seen in some of the videos being viciously clobbered by multiple security personnel from the institution for reasons unknown.

Among the demands made by the students is that justice be served by the detective conducting investigation into the matter, as well as reprimanding the security guards who conducted the unthinkable deed which left the student with severe injuries.

The protests saw heavy police presence on the busy road who tried to cool the situation after the students persisted despite several attempt from the college administration to calm them.

At the time of publication of this article, the institution was yet to issue a statement on the protests.
