A church in Kitui County on the spot after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) alleged that it has stolen a land from a learning institution in the county.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 while speaking during a session with journalists revealed that it has taken to court the church over the alleged grabbing of land worth KSh115 million from a learning institution for the visually impaired.
The agency announced that the incident is among cases that it is currently following up on with the anticipation it will end in the recovery of grabbed land.

“In Kitui, we have land belonging to the visually impaired persons that have been grabbed by a church in that area worth Ksh115 million, EACC is in court seeking recovery of the land,” an official said.
According to EACC, the church in question had reportedly grabbed the land from the Kitui Integrated Programme for the Visually Impaired and it is keen to return the land to the institution once the case is settled.
“When the parcel of land is recovered it will be returned to the institution,” the officials added.
EACC revealed that more information on the recovery shall be shared with the public in due course.
The agency officials warned all government officials and private citizens accused of grabbing parcels of land across the country saying that in due time the law will catch up with them.
