School heads asked to request for JSS infrastructure funds

School heads across the country have been asked by the Ministry of Education to forward their requests for approval for prioritized Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) Repair, Maintenance, and Improvement Projects Fund for the Financial Year 2023/2024.

In Migori County, Director of Education Jacob Onyiego addressing all the Sub-County Directors in the county directed them to ensure that the issuance of the approval of the fund which will be implemented in schools using the RMI received from Free Secondary Education (FSE) funds from the ministry be completed by June 31, 2024.

Among the things the school heads are required to attach in their requests includes the copies of acknowledgement letter receipts to the Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, request letter for approval/ forwarding letter, bill of quantities (BQs) /material schedule.

Also, architectural drawing, JSS committee minutes, BOM minutes, school improvement development plan (SIDP), latest bank statement from the date account was opened, photocopies of the status of existing projects to be re-furbished if any, certificate of practical completion/status report for projects implemented in 2022/2023 Fiscal Year, and NEMIS printout.

“You are further, requested to communicate to this office dates when Approval Committees shall sit to approve the proposals. Invite the County Project Coordinator to the meeting. Both soft and hard copies of approval letters are to be forwarded to the CDEs Office by June 31, 2024,” the memo adds in part.
