Talented learners, noted the MP, will compete in various fields, and the best ones will be picked and sponsored fully to motivate others identify and exploit their potential.

“We have students who are talented but have not been exposed to exploit their talents. That is why I want to help them,” Jhanda said.

The legislator was speaking at Nyamagwa (SDA) Mixed Secondary School after presenting them with an NGCDF cheque worth Ksh462,000 for orphans and learners from poor families.

Accompanied by area Ward Representative Steve Arika and school Principal Thomas Matoke, he pledged to improve infrastructure in the school and make it a role model.

He said the fund has allocated Ksh4.7 million to help the school construct classrooms, dining hall and a library to boost the school’s education standards and raise performance in examinations.

“I challenge students to sacrifice, work hard and pass their examination and exploit their potential. You can be anything you want if you remain focussed and determined,” Jhanda said.
