The Church has been praised for the role it plays to support education and other development projects in society.

Migori County Deputy Governor Joseph Mahiri said that the church has been instrumental in the pacification of communities through the provision of food, shelter as well as spiritual nourishment.

“We are living in a world marred by many challenges that need solutions and here is where the church comes and stands with people,” he said.

The deputy governor was speaking at Maeta SDA church in Kuria East Sub-county where he assisted to raise money over the weekend to build a house for the church staff and purchase of church instruments.

He said that although education is not a devolved event, the county deliberately prioritized ECDE because it forms the base of any development.

He revealed that the county through the leadership of Dr Ochillo Ayacko spent approximately KSh146 million to support students from poor home to enable them access quality education in the secondary schools, Technical and Vocational Training Institutes (TVETs) and Universities.
