Ksh44.5M distributed to needy learners in Budalang’i

Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala and and his NGCDF team display a dummy cheque worth Ksh44.5 million as bursary for needy learners.

Budalang’i NGCDF has disbursed a total of Ksh44.5 million as education bursary to needy students from Bunyala North Ward for the 2023/24 financial year, Education News has established.

After presenting the bursary cheques to respective secondary school principals at the Budalangi trading centre last week, Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala told parents that his number one priority is education.

Wanjala urged the students especially those who had dropped out of school not to despair but instead join vocational training, expressing shock that he could not get drivers from his constituency for a friend who was starting a company.

“Vocational training is key. For that reason, I want to take this opportunity to urge parents to enroll their children who have dropped out of school for one reason or another in vocational training institutions and specialize in the courses of their choices,” he said.

The legislator at the same time told secondary school principals to stop the habit of sending home students for fees, saying majority of parents in the constituency are going through a very difficult financial period.

He said the respective secondary school Boards of Management (BoMs) should liaise with parents so as to chart the way forward as far as fees payment is concerned.
