Keiyo South Constituency Member of Parliament Gideon Kimaiyo has promised to offer an education sponsorship to a 41-year-old lady who scored B plain in the 2010 KCSE.
The legislature revealed this through his X-account, formerly twitter, on April 10, when he was celebrating his 41st birthday.

“Today as I celebrate my birthday, there’s no better gift than the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life,” the tweet reads.
The MP came to the aid of Jelagat Maiyo after 14 years since she sat her KCSE examinations but could not attend university or college to fulfil her dreams due to the financial constraints.

“Allow me to introduce you to Jelagat Maiyo, from Biretwo in Soy North Ward. Despite scoring a B plain in KCSE back in 2010, she couldn’t fulfil her dream of attending University due to financial constraints. Today, my team visited her at her home with some shopping. I will be taking her back to school and paying her college fees,” MP Kimaiyo said.
The law maker further added that he will also help the lady secure employment after the completion of her studies.

“Later I hope to secure her job, God willing,” the MP wrote.
The legislature has continually supported needy but bright learners and students in his constituency. In January 2024, he offered to sponsor the education of a needy girl who showed up at Queen of Peace Secondary School, in Marakwet East with two goats, accompanied by her mother to facilitate her Form One admission.

The situation which saw their photos widely spread on social media attracted the attention of the legislature who later promised to cater for the girl’s education throughout her four-year secondary course.
