As the President interacted with students in one of the classrooms at the polytechnic, Mercy Mwende, a trainee in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism, requested for a job.
But in return she was offered an internship opportunity at the State House, as her skills would be assessed first before employment.

“I know in Statehouse we have a hospitality department, right? She asked the President.
The President then laughed.
“It would be my pleasure if you would recognise me at least I work in State House as I do hospitality and accommodation,” she continued further.

Ruto then responded to the request promising Mwende internship at the State House.
“Okay, may be what we are going to do Mwende, is, I will need to look at your performance first. You have to be good, right?”

And number two may be what we will do first is to give you a chance to work as an intern and then we can assess you properly.”
“Coming from Nyeri National Polytechnic, I know you will do well”.
President has promised to ensure each constituency in the country has a TVET.
