School heads in Rongai warned against sending learners home for fees

Heads of Schools in Rongai, Nakuru County have been warned against sending students home for fees or other levies.

Sub County Director of Education William Kipchumba says area MP Paul Chebor has released bursaries to schools hence it was wrong to send learners home.

Speaking in the area, Kipchumba said that he has received several complaints and has since commenced investigations in collaboration with other agencies.

“Bursaries have been released to schools and there is no reason to send students home for fees. Principals should appreciate the cheques they have received and negotiate with parents on the payment of fees,” he said.

According to him, the principals should appreciate the cheques they have received and negotiate with parents and guardians on clearance of fees arrears.

He underscored the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to improve academic standards in the sub county.

Kipchumba lauded area MP for improving school infrastructure and pushing for lobbing for the increase of teachers in the area, adding that teachers in the area have all they need to attain good grades.

“I want to commend mheshimiwa here for what he is doing. If you visit our schools, you will find that upgrade of infrastructure is going on. MP Chebor has also been lobbying for increased number of teachers in this area,” added Kipchumba.

Despite the numerous warnings by the government, school principals in the country have continued sending students home for fees and other levies.
