Machakos Senator seeks answers on the sorry state of a new SNE school

Machakos County Senator Agnes Kavindu.

Machakos County Senator Agnes Kavindu is seeking answers from the Standing Committee on Education regarding the state of Liani Kivaa Hearing Impairment (H.I.) Primary School in Masinga Constituency, Machakos County.

In the statement, the Senator requested the committee to explain why the Ministry of Education (MoE) has not funded the school that was officially registered on November 28, 2023.

She also wants to know why the school has only one classroom accommodating learners in all 9 classes, and why it lacks other essential infrastructure such as dormitories for both boys and girls, toilets and bathrooms.

The ministry should also clarify whether the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) plans to deploy additional teachers to the school as it is currently understaffed with only 3 teachers attending to all 9 classes.

It should also state measures put in place by the State Department for Basic Education to ensure that pupils in the school get to learn in a conducive environment.
