Government to shift fees payment for national schools to its e-Citizen platform

Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang. He has sent a circular to CDEs requiring all account details of national schools in their jurisdictions.

The government plans to move all fees due to national schools from the normal payment channels to its e-Citizen platform as it tries to own all monetary transactions relating to schools.

Already, Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Dr Belio Kipsang’ has instructed all principals of national schools to furnish the ministry with their official bank details through a circular to County Directors of Education (CDEs).

In particular, the principals have been asked to provide the account name, bank, school account number, bank code, and branch code to reach the Director General in the MoE not later than February 6, 2024.

The MoE is partnering with the Directorate of e-Citizen, Information Communication Technology Authority (ICTA), Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy, and the National Treasury to fully digitize school fees payments.

These government agencies have recently been coordinating the onboarding of all government services onto the e-Citizen platform to enhance service delivery.
