KESSHA releases elections calendar for officials from grassroots to national levels

Murang'a High School Principal Willie Kuria, who is the KESSHA acting National Chairman after Kahi Indimuli retired, has released the calendar for elections to pick officials from sub-county to national levels.

Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) has released the calendar for its forthcoming elections, which will start at the sub-county level during the first term mid-term break, to the national level to be held in June this year during the annual conference.

In the guidelines contained in a notice dated January 25, 2024 signed by the association acting National Chairman Willie Kuria, the elective seats will be those of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, and Assistant Organizing Secretary at all its sub-county, county and national levels.

In the build up to the national elections in June, the sub-county elections will come up in the mid-term break around mid-February to be followed by the county elections in the April school holidays.

According to the notice, those who will be contesting for positions will be required to be fully paid up members of the association for the last three years.

“Members seeking elective positions and the delegates must be fully paid-up members and serving as heads of public secondary schools in Kenya during the day of election,” reads the notice in part.

The sub-county and county aspirants should have served as principals for at least three consecutive years, while five years will be the requirement for the national posts.

All members who will participate as voters will be required to be fully paid up members and mandatorily appear in the voter register of the different electoral categories.
