Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School is in a celebratory mood after the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) released the 2023 KCSE results of 50 candidates which had been withheld over suspicion of irregularities.
According to Chief Principal Albert Ombiro, when Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the examination results on January 8, the 50 out of 433 candidates reported that theirs were missing.
“We got concerned and made inquiries with KNEC who promised to take up the matter. It is until yesterday that we this good news,” he said.
The excited Principal revealed that 6 candidates scored grade A plain, 60 got A minus, 137 attained B plus, 203 scored B plain and 26 got B- minus as the last grade in the school.
He however noted that it was unfortunate that one of the candidates who scored grade B plain passed on last year, shortly after sitting for the examinations.
Ombiro, who was flanked by his two Deputies Gerald Ayiera and David Mayaka, and other teachers attributed the sterling results to faith in God, hard work from teachers and students, and cooperation from parents and other stakeholders.
“I can testify that it took teamwork to achieve these good results. I have seen the hand of God,” he said.
Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, based in Kisii County, is one of the oldest Catholic-sponsored secondary schools in the region.
Its fading academic glory was revived in 2022 when it posted a mean score of 10.8 in the national examination, taking position two nationally after Nyambaria National School in Nyamira County.
The Principal thanked all education stakeholders and prayed for good health for the rest of the students and teachers to ensure they maintain the impressive academic trajectory moving forward.
