A school in Machakos County has been thrown into mourning after losing three of its students in a grisly road accident only days to school reopening.
St.Francis Katangi boys high school in Yatta Sub-County lost three brothers in a grisly road accident while heading back to school after a long holiday at home in Mt.Elgon in Bungoma County.
The school Deputy Principal Joseph Kipnusu and his son who were traveling with the three boys sustained serious injuries from the accident which happened at Timboroa in Baringo county on the New Year’s day.
The two who were injured are currently receiving treatment at an Eldoret hospital and are in stable condition.
Kipnusu had told the media that because he had a scheduled interview in Machakos on 3rd January, he thought it wise to travel back early with the boys so that they prepare well for school.
“I saw it wise to take them with me in readiness for opening instead of going back to Machakos and coming back for them again yet it was only a few days to the opening of the schools. It is only by God’s grace that I am alive but we are so sad to lose three three boys-Terry, Braxton and Reagan “he said.
According to the School Principal, Julius Mulinge Kiwese, the school is currently conducting a fundraiser to help offset hospital bills and defray funeral expenses.
