New CEO of TVET assessment council appointed

The New CEO of TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) Prof. Kisilu Kitainge

Prof. Kisilu Kitainge assumes the role of the new Chief Executive Officer of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Certification Council (TVET CDACC).

Previously disbanded, the council’s responsibilities were transferred to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

The Principal Secretary for TVET Esther Muoria, expressed optimism about the appointment heralding it as the dawn of a promising era for the TVET sector in Kenya.

The council, entrusted with crafting curricula, conducting examinations, assessments, and certifying competence, plays a pivotal role in advising the government on related matters.

Ahmed Ferej, the Board Chair, underscored the government’s reliance on TVET for fostering industrialization.

He urged the incoming CEO to establish robust assessment systems to advance the government’s TVET agenda.

Professor Kisilu affirmed his dedication to the government’s vision for skills development, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to expediting assessments and certifications.

To date, the council has formulated 446 national occupational standards and competency-based curricula along with 169 learning guides.
