A retired teacher, alongside four other people, died yesterday in a road accident along Kisumu-Homabay road.

The afternoon grisly accident involved two Nissan Matatus that collided head-on as they were reportedly being driven at high speeds.

According to Rachuonyo North Police Commander Lydiah Betiye, three of the victims died on the spot while one died shortly after arrival at Miriu Sub-county Hospital.

The bodies were taken to Homabay Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for postmortem and burial plans as the injured were admitted at the hospital wards.

Betiye asked drivers to be careful on the roads especially at this time when rains are heavy.

She also warned Matatu who carry excess passengers, saying they will be arrested and arraigned in court.
