The newly crowned M/s Tourism Kenya, Homabay Chapter Sheila Mary Akinyi has said she will use the Ksh150,000 she was awarded to open an account that will establish a sinking fund for the development of youth projects in the county.

The 22-year old holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Records and Information Management from Kenyatta University said she will use donations from friends and well-wishers to grow the fund, which will finally be used to empower them economically.

The beauty pageant advised youth to explore their talent and be creative to develop it to their fullest, appealing to her runners up Whitney Adhiambo and Mary Ogada to join hands and champion for education, tourism and climate change programmes in the county.

Her two close contestants pocketed 100,000 and 50,000 shillings respectively.

Whitney Adhiambo, 21, is a student at Mawego Technical Training Institute pursuing a Diploma in Civil Engineering while her colleague Mary Ogada, 22, is a Zech University student.

The Ceremony that took place in Homabay town was attended by county governor Gladys Wanga and popular musician Esther Akothee.

Wanga was flanked by county Speaker Julius Gaya, many Members of the County Assembly and several County Executive Committee Members (CECMs).
