St. Isaac Township Comprehensive School is confident it will attain its target mean mark of 390 in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), a significant improvement from last year’s 350.

Headteacher Juliet Akaali expressed optimism in attaining the target considering the measures they put in place including motivation sessions, thorough revision of past papers and increased dedication and commitment among teachers and learners.

She commended her teachers noting that they professionally cater for their pupils’ learning, improvement and welfare in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) requirements.

Akaali was speaking during the institution’s 12th graduation ceremony of 50 Pre-Primary 2 (PP2) learners set to join lower primary in January 2024.

The 50 graduands received blessings and prayers and being an ACK-sponsored school, the anointment of the Holy Communion was conducted accordingly.

The school Administrator, Mr Felix Otalo said that the day school, located in Shianda town, Mumias East constituency is on the right track in dispensing quality education and they will soon be among the best performing schools in the country.

The fast-growing school currently has 525 pupils who get quality learning from 17 teachers who comply with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) requirements.

The disciplined and self-driven pupils have continued to raise the school’s standards by excelling in both academics and co-curricular activities.

The school Director Sospeter Were and Co-Director Madam Evelyn Were said that they have put up a modern storey building that houses a Junior Secondary School (JSS) block, a well-equipped laboratory, Home Science room and a Computer Studies room.

In her speech, Evelyn said that they have converted the school into a day and boarding school, noting that the construction of required facilities is complete and awaiting occupation by incoming learners.

She urged parents to bring their children to the best school in the larger Mumias sub-county adding that the school has sufficient facilities including Music, Home Science and Science laboratories.

The Co-Director added that the school will start a Babycare wing early next year.

“We started this school because children in this community used to walk for kilometres in search of education and this was a constant headache for parents,” she said.
