Four inmates at Eldama Ravine Prison sit KCPE

Eldama Ravine Prison

Four inmates in Eldama Ravine Prison are among thousands of primary school pupils sitting this year’s KCPE examinations.

Speaking at his office, the Eldama Ravine Prison welfare officer Kennedy Kaptila lauded the four prisoners for their determination and preparation for the exams.

“These prisoners are serving on short-term offences. Despite being elderly, they braced enough for the examinations and are determined to achieving the best,” he said.

Simon Kibet Songol, one of the prisoners aged 54 years, expressed his excitement.

“We’ve prepared well. I’m excited for this chance and I know I’ll register good results as my jail term ends. I’ll go home with a certificate next year,” said Songol.

The national examinations enter the second day today.
